My Service Lab
Privacy Policy
Effective July 11, 2026
The short version
My Service Lab helps service businesses remind their customers, take bookings, and get paid. To do that we store the information you put into the app. We don't sell your data, we don't sell your customers' data, and we don't use it for advertising. Your business data belongs to your business.
Who we are
My Service Lab ("we", "us") operates myservicelab.com. For anything in this policy, contact us at privacy@myservicelab.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address (used for password-free sign-in links) and the business details you enter — business name, contact info, services, prices, hours, branding.
- Your business records: the customers, appointments, quotes, invoices, and notes you add while running your business in the app.
- Your customers' details:names, contact info, and service history that you (or they, when booking online) enter. You own this list — see "Your customers' data" below.
- Basic technical data: the app also keeps a working copy of your data in your own browser so it loads fast and works on the go.
We don't collect or store payment card numbers. Payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe — your card details go to them, never to us.
When you connect a payment or accounting account (Stripe, Square, or QuickBooks), we access transaction data from that account to power features like automatic payment matching and volume-based pricing. Disconnecting the account in Settings stops this access immediately.
How we use it
- To run the product: your dashboard, schedule, reminders, bookings, invoices.
- To send email on your business's behalf — service reminders, booking confirmations, and messages you compose. Every automated email carries an unsubscribe link, and we honor opt-outs immediately.
- To help you when you ask us to (support).
- Not for: selling your data to third parties, or anything unrelated to running your business. (We measure our own ads on our marketing pages — see “Advertising measurement” below — but your business and customer data is never part of that.)
Advertising measurement (marketing pages only)
When we run ads for My Service Lab (for example on Facebook or Instagram), our public marketing pages — the homepage, sign-up page, and pages like /thumbtack-leads — may load an advertising pixel (such as the Meta pixel or the Google Ads tag) so we can tell which ads actually work. In plain terms: it counts “someone who saw our ad visited this page” and “someone who clicked our ad started a trial.”
- It runs only on public marketing pages — never inside the app where you run your business.
- Your customers' names, jobs, invoices, and messages are never shared with any ad platform.
- You can switch it off entirely. Use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page and these tags stop loading on your browser — no advertising cookie, nothing sent to Meta or Google. We also honor the Global Privacy Controlsignal automatically, so if your browser broadcasts it you're opted out before you ask.
- You can also limit ad tracking with your browser's settings, ad blockers, or at youradchoices.com.
Who else touches your data
We don't sell your information, and we keep the list of companies involved in running My Service Lab deliberately short. Here is every one of them and why they exist:
- Supabase — hosts the database and logins. Your account and your customer records live here, protected so that each account can only reach its own row.
- Netlify — serves the website and app itself.
- Stripe — handles subscription payments and, for owners who enable it, customer card payments. We never see or store full card numbers; Stripe does that.
- Resend — delivers our email: service reminders, invoices, receipts, and password resets.
- Meta— receives advertising-measurement pings from our public marketing pages only, as described above, and only when you haven't opted out.
- Google (optional, owner-initiated) — if you connect your Google Business Profile, we read your reviews and listing stats to show them to you.
- Intuit QuickBooks (optional, owner-initiated) — if you connect it, completed jobs sync into your books.
Each one only receives what it needs to do its job. If we ever add another, this list gets updated before it goes live.
Your rights over your data
- See it or get a copy — email us and we'll send everything we hold about you.
- Delete it— closing your account removes your login and your data, and cancels any subscription. Ask us and we'll do it for you; there's no retention trap.
- Opt out of ad sharing — the Do Not Sell or Share page, any time, no account needed.
- Correct it — your business details are editable in Settings whenever you like.
We never charge you, downgrade you, or treat you differently for exercising any of these. Email hello@myservicelab.com and a human answers.
Text messages (SMS)
If a business you're a customer of turns on text reminders and you've given them permission to text you, My Service Lab may send service-reminder text messages to your mobile number on that business's behalf.
- Message frequency varies — typically 1–2 messages per service cycle.
- Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP at any time to unsubscribe (reply START to opt back in).
- We never sell or share mobile numbers. Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text-messaging opt-in data is not shared with anyone.
Your customers' data
Your customer list is your business's data— we process it only to provide the service to you. If you close your account we delete it; if you ask us to remove a customer we remove them; you can export your list any time (there's a CSV button in the app). If one of your customers contacts us directly about their data, we'll help them and let you know.
Where it lives & how it's protected
Your data is stored with Supabase (our database provider) with row-level security, so each business can only ever read its own records. Email is delivered through Resend from our own verified domain. Everything travels over HTTPS. Sign-in uses one-time email links, so there are no passwords for anyone to steal.
Your choices
- Export: download your customer list as a CSV from the app whenever you like.
- Delete: email privacy@myservicelab.com and we'll delete your account and its data.
- Unsubscribe: every automated email has an unsubscribe link; recipients who use it stop receiving automated email immediately.
Children
My Service Lab is a business tool and isn't directed at children under 13; we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell account holders by email. Questions? privacy@myservicelab.com.
